Thievery Corporation Closes Its 30th Anniversary Tour With Three Nights at Home
Thievery Corporation announced a nine-show December tour on September 16 that closes out their 30th anniversary year. The run ends with three nights at 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, the city where Eric Hilton and Rob Garza started the band in 1996. Tickets went on sale September 18 at noon local time.
The band built its sound out of dub and reggae bass pushed through downtempo, bossa nova, and electronic production, with vocalists singing in English, French, Persian, and Portuguese over the top. That blend is why Thievery Corporation has a page on this site in the first place: dub echo and a reggae low end, run through strings, horns, sitar, and tabla instead of a soundsystem, is the reggae-to-electronic lineage in one band. Closing a 30th anniversary tour in the city where that started, at a club they've played for decades, is the kind of full circle this run was built for.
The December run is nine shows across five states over eleven days. It opens December 11 at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, then the Tabernacle in Atlanta on December 12, two nights at the Orange Peel in Asheville on December 13 and 14, the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville on December 16, and Richmond on December 17, before three nights at 9:30 Club on V Street, December 19 through 21. Asheville is the only other stop that gets more than one night; every other city on the run gets a single date before the band moves on. Hilton and Garza said in the announcement: “We're wrapping up 2026 and our 30th anniversary by ending the tour where it all started ... in DC.” The band's 1996 debut, Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi, set the template they built on for three decades, through tracks like 2000's “Lebanese Blonde” and into whatever they play this December.
