Biography

The story

Kēvens grew up in Miami immersed in a rich cultural and musical environment. He developed a love for reggae, dub, and world music early on, while also absorbing the burgeoning electronic and rave scenes. His musical journey took shape when he joined the reggae ensemble Le Coup, a group connected to the Marley family, earning him experience in live performance, songwriting, and roots music traditions.

By the late 1990s, Kēvens began exploring how reggae and electronic music might coexist more integrally. After a pivotal festival show at Florida's Zen Music Festival in 1998, where he combined reggae performance with elements of the rave environment, he embraced a new path. He started merging reggae vocals, live instrumentation, and drum & bass / jungle rhythms, describing this fusion for the first time as ReggaeEDM.

Over the years he performed internationally, often bringing his live band into EDM settings. His shows combined theatrical elements, conscious lyricism, and bass-driven rhythms. He persisted independently, releasing singles and working to push the boundaries of genre blending. Through his advocacy, live presence, and consistency, he became a leading voice in the ReggaeEDM movement.

In 2023, his single "Legal Dreamers" marked a milestone: the track climbed Jamaican reggae charts, demonstrating that reggae-informed EDM can resonate in a traditionally reggae market. He followed that with a 2024 album release, Call To Balance, which further honed his vision of musical and spiritual equilibrium. Today, Kēvens continues to write, perform, and mentor, always oriented toward unity, upliftment, and musical innovation.
